The Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate - A Heartfelt Farewell to a Iconic Sports Car

It's the end of an era in Warwickshire, England as production of the current generation Aston Martin DBS is due to end its production with a limited run of 499 vehicles. Dubbed the Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate, this vehicle is supposed to be a swan song of sorts, sending the DBS out with a proper bang and leading the way into Aston Martin's hybrid and EV generation of the sports car. Good luck getting your hands on one of these monsters though, all 499 have already been reserved, making it the quickest selling limited run model to date.

The Aston Martin DBS badge has an almost 60 year history, despite only going through 3 generations. The first generation of the DBS arrived on the scene in 1967 and would carry on until 1972. This particular generation of the DBS was actually pitched to consumers as the perfect practical option while housing more space and four seats for elegant grand touring. The first gen was initially going to have a V8 but that idea was scrapped in favor of a 6-cylinder instead, with the V8 coming later in its lifespan. The second generation, arriving in 2007 and lasting until 2012, is the generation that is believed to have thrust the DBS into the spotlight, with the iconic car appearing in 'Casino Royale' and 'Quantum of Solace'. This version of the DBS came equipped an explosive V12 pumping out 510bH with Aston Martin dubbing this as a car that offers "explosive power in a black tie". The current gen DBS started its life in 2018, albeit with a slight name tweak. The newly named DBS Superleggara came with a 5.2liter twin-turbo V12, good for a mighty 715bHp, rocketing this car from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds. I guess there's good reason that Aston Martin dubbed this generation the "Brute in a Suit"

Fast-forwarding to the DBS 770 Ultimate, this car is harboring a 5.2liter V12 making 759hp and 644 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful production car Aston Martin has made to date. The hulking V12 is mated to a ZF-built eight speed automatic transmission and a standard limited-slip differential. According to Aston Martin this is power is good for a 3.2-second 0-60 time (or 3.4 if you opt in for the convertible version) and a top speed of 211 mph.

This is not by any means your standard DBS, with a whole slew of both mechanical and visual upgrades being added for this vehicles final hurrah. Aston Martin adds a beefier crossmember and ups front-end lateral stiffness by about 25% all while adding a solid mounted steering column for extra road feel. On the outside we get tweaks to the front bumper for increased air flow, a horseshoe shaped hood vent, and 21-inch available in 3 finishes and wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Performance tires. The exterior is not the only area with visual changes. The interior gets standard sports seats sporting quilted alcantra and the center armrest getting a quaint little leather strap on the armrest sporting the 770 Ultimate Logo.

The DBS 770 Ultimate is limited to only 499 designations, with 300 of those being coupe models and 199 of them being convertibles. Production of this vehicle is expected to start in Q1 of 2023 and the first of these models are expected to be shipped out in Q3 of 2023. Good luck getting your hands on any of them though, order books are closed, and resale prices are expected to be astronomical if any.
