2026 Dodge Durango; F**k It, Throw A Hemi In It
Alright, it’s been a minute, but I’m back with news that’s worth the wait. Dodge just shook things up for 2026, and they’re not messing around. They’ve dropped that weak-ass Pentastar V6 from the lineup and shoved the HEMI V8 into every single Durango. Yeah, every one. The base GT now rocks the 5.7-liter HEMI putting out 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. That’s a huge step up — 65 more horses and 130 more lb-ft than that sorry V6 ever gave you. Finally, the Durango GT feels like it actually means business.
The R/T is back too, and it’s packing the legendary 6.4-liter HEMI — the 392 you know and love — cranking out 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That’s 115 extra horsepower and 80 more lb-ft over last year’s model. And don’t forget, it can tow 8,700 pounds. This isn’t just some fast street truck — it’s muscle and muscle alone with some serious utility to back it up.
At the top of the food chain is the Durango SRT Hellcat, still pushing the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 with a monstrous 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. Dodge says it’ll hit 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and top out at 180 mph. For a three-row SUV, that’s nuts. Straight muscle car territory.
But the real kicker? The Hellcat Jailbreak Edition. Dodge is giving you over six million ways to customize this beast — wheels, paint, stripes, interior finishes, you name it. Want your Durango to sound louder? Look meaner? Stand out from the herd? Jailbreak lets you build the exact Hellcat you want, no bullshit restrictions.
Prices are surprisingly fair. The GT starts at $44,490 — making it one of the cheapest AWD V8 SUVs out there. The R/T slides in under $50k, and the Hellcat kicks off at $81,990. For what you’re getting, that’s damn good.
So if you thought the Durango was just a family hauler, Dodge just shut that down. They tossed the V6 and doubled down on muscle. This lineup is about power, performance, and zero compromises — all wrapped in an SUV that doesn’t give a damn about playing it safe.
Ready to get behind the wheel of a Durango that actually means business? ’26 is your year.
