2023 Carroll Shelby Centennial Edition - A Fitting Memorial for an Automotive Great
*Note- Bit of a short article today, automotive news is slowing down a bit but should pick back up within the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support!*
The team over at Shelby America is busting out the big guns to celebrate the 100th birthday of their founder Carrol Shelby. For this absolutely bonkers special edition, the team has taken a 2023 Ford Mustang GT and turned it up to a thousand. This is not your run of the mill GT, as it has been supercharged to spit out an impressive 750 horsepower and spit flames courtesy of the Borla cat-back exhaust system. Shelby America is only planing to make 100 of these special editions, but unfortunately all 100 have already sold out.
This is also set to be one of the least strict special editions models Shelby America has produced. They will allow you to have anything ranging from fastback to convertible and manual to automatic, so long as it's a 2023 Mustang GT, Shelby will turn it into this limited edition beast. The upgrades to this vehicle also stack up very quickly. On the outside, we get widened front fenders, 20x11 Shelby Wheels, and Michelin Pilot S tires as well as a Shelby vented hood and an upgraded front fascia.
Shelby America ensured that this car was a fitting way to honor the legacy of Carroll Shelby. Carroll's name and silhouette adorns the wheels, the upper-grille, the rear badge, and the floor mats just to name a few places. The 100 customers that were lucky enough to actually be able to obtain this limited edition were also treated to a black Stetson hat and a copy of the Shelby Centennial Book. This package price starts at $49,995 which does not include the price of the donor car which would also run you about $39,00. Either way I believe this vehicle is the best way to honor an automotive legend.
"I don't design cars. I'm not a designer. I know what I desire to be built, I know what the end result is, the horsepower, the competition we'll be working against, but I leave it to the people who work with me to put it all together. I don't do anything" - Carroll Shelby (1/11/1923 - 5/10/2012)
